Student Colleague - Student IT Support Team Members

 Variable Hours

Grade 2 - £9.17 per hour + 12% holiday pay

Marjon is a small University, with a strong sense of community, centred on student success.

We believe that each staff member contributes directly to the University’s growth and success, with our values at the heart of everything we do. We believe that diversity provides the talent and contribution that delivers the greatest impact on our continuing success and realising every individual’s potential.

We are looking for new members of the highly effective Student IT Support (SITS) Service, based in 24 hr open access area and supporting users across the Marjon campus. The SITS scheme is designed to ensure that support for students with IT queries is available at the most appropriate times for Students which is generally Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm term time.  There may also be more hours at weekends and additional pressure points, e.g. near dissertation hand-in dates, events, open days etc.

You should have experience in or an understanding to provide initial support (e.g. file handling, logging laptops onto wifi, basic printing tasks, using PaperCut) and general MS Office applications like Word, PowerPoint and Excel.  Other or more in depth experience is advantageous, as well as a willingness to learn.

You will need to be proactive and seek resolutions using both Marjon and online resources (Google, YouTube etc.) as well as producing help files and posters as appropriate.  There may be other technical requirements as directed by the Computer Services team.

You will be given training and support.  You will be shown how to assist with printing problems and, where necessary, to refer problems on to ITTS for MS Office and Computing Services for hardware and network issues.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Peter Waterfield, Head of Digital and IT Services,

We are a ‘Disability Confident Employer’. Candidates who declare a disability and who demonstrate on their application that they meet the essential criteria will be included on the shortlist
