Why does text jump around when I insert a chart/image/table? Why don't the captions look right?

When objects such as tables, charts/graphs, images or shapes are inserted into a Word document,  it is important that they are set to the correct Wrap Text property otherwise the text can jump around and it can be difficult to insert captions in the correct location.
