Replacement roof works - starts Tuesday 21 March
by Alison Hicks - Monday, 20 March 2017, 2:02 PM

Following on from recent information from the Student Union I can confirm that the work scheduled for roof replacement will start tomorrow - Tuesday 21 March.

The first buildings to be scaffolded will be C Block and Cromwell Hall.

The buildings will be completely surrounded by scaffolding.

C Block - the mechanical lift for removal of existing roof and lifting of materials for the new roof will be located at the end of the building by the steps to the Porters lodge.  The scaffold will extend approximately a one and half meters around the building footprint.  Therefore the access road between C Block and HDC will be reduced in width.  There will also be scaffold through the flower beds on the quad side of the building. Once the scaffold is up there will be no contractors on the scaffold outside of the windows. No access to buildings will be affected but please take care whilst the scaffold is being erected and in place during the works.

Cromwell - the mechanical lift for removal of existing roof and lifting of materials for the new roof will be located at the end of the building nearest the sports centre.  There will be no parking available at the end of Cromwell hall, near the sports centre entrance, from 8.00am tomorrow morning.  If you normally park in this area please note the bays will be cordoned off this evening.  The scaffold will extend approximately one and a half meters around the complete building.  Once the scaffold is up there will be no contractors on the scaffold outside of residents windows.

There will be noise disturbance during the scaffold erection and roofing works so please keep windows shut and doors closed to minimise the disturbance.

Thank you
