World Smile Day

World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball who created the Smiley Face in 1963.

The slogan of the Smile Foundation is "improving this world, one smile at a time."

Around Marjon you will see a number of smiley faces. Simply count how many there are and come to student support for your prize. Everyone who takes part gets a prize - bigger prize for correct answers! They are not hidden and are located in and around the main quad and routes around campus!

If you want to know a bit more about the Smiley logo, its history is really interesting. Poor Harvey Ball did not get the recognition he deserved from a copyright point of view.

See http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/who-really-invented-the-smiley-face-2058483/?no-ist for more on this.
