Are you interested in working with children, young people and/or families?

Would you like to use or develop existing skills or learn new skills to work with children or families in church, school or community settings?

There is a range of opportunities available to work with an experienced trainer and facilitator to assist with groups in various settings and to be involved with new developments.

Volunteers do not need to be Christians but will need to be comfortable working in a faith-based environment whatever their own faith or belief system.

In addition to the times listed below there are also opportunities to be involved with planning, devising, rehearsing or preparation at other times (which can be arranged to fit in with individual students’ availability).

Most of the groups and planning takes place at Crownhill Methodist Church.  The Thursday clubs are at Compton Methodist Church.

Monday’s 9-11.30am   “Splatter and Chatter” – art & craft activities, free play, stories, songs and games for parents &/or carers and their children (0-4)

Thursday’s 5.00-9.00pm  After-school clubs, offering a range of “play” activities and games with some Christian input.  3 age groups: 5.15-6.15pm: Foundation to Yr 2,  6.30-7.30pm: Yr 3 – 6, 7.45-8.45pm: Yrs 7+

Sunday mornings 10am – 12 noon “The Ark”    Christian teaching for children & young people:  School Visits & Workshops to support RE lessons and assemblies on a range of topics, primarily from a Christian perspective. Opportunities to support workshops in storytelling, puppets and drama for PSHE-related topics, confidence building and community development also available.

Also opportunities to assist with Social Media, Marketing and Admin.

Additional opportunities in the past (expected to be available again):   Annual Unity Festival on Plymouth Hoe   Storytelling at Fetes, Fairs and conferences   Leading worship for Messy Church and other church services   Drama & Puppet Teams (Improvisational and scripted)   Family, Community and Church celebratory events

Further developments (which may become available):   Creative English [“Laugh your way to English”]   (Arts-based English course for speakers of other languages)   Children’s Church   Messy Play Groups and Parties
